Dulcie Edis: I would like to know.........because i would hate for that to happen to me.
Marti Declue: Recently, I've gone from a vegetarian to vegan dietnow, when i am at work or with friends who want to go out to eat, or who are having a B.B.Q, or when meals with friends happens, all the food these people have is not part of my diet. i don't mean to sound rude, or picky i just don't agree with eating fast food/processed crap/food with animal by product, and A LOT of processed foods have that.i usually always carry an apple or banana with me just in case, but even that seems rude.so when im offered food Instant vegan...how do i politely decline, and state my reason why...Show more
Keven Drumgole: I usually try to avoid telling them that I'm vegan and try to get off the subject ASAP. But if it does keep going on, just simply tell them you're a vegan. When people invite you to eat at their place or something, just warn them that you'll bring your own food beca! use you're vegan, and ask them if they're okay with that. That's what I do. I almost always have to pack my own, but I don't mind... That way I know what's in my meal and how it was made! :)
Eulah Hugill: your a pecsetairan which means u eat seafood but no other meat
Idell Mulliniks: Cite where people ate grass in WWII if you want to be taken seriously. Plenty of birds, fish and deer running around. No reason to have a cow diet.
Wally Gower: well i'm pretty sure that you know that vegetarians DON'T eat meat xDD .. and fish i think?
Clemmie Burkleo: your a pesketarian, the only meat you eat is fish.
Davina Shindler: i've been thinking if there was another world war and it was just as bad as the II world war is it possible for humans to eat grass as a substitute for food and survive if its boiled and properly cleaned?
Emerita Sciandra: grass is fine to eat. lots of people blend it in smoothies
Willis Liburd: It's funny, this gets as! ked a few times a day at least. Vegetarians don't eat any fles! h- including fish. :)
Burt Stoecklin: Vegans not only omit all animal products from their diets, but they also eliminate them from the rest of their life. Vegans use nothing from animals, such as leather, wool, and silk. Lacto-Vegetarians will include dairy products into their diet of plant food. Lacto-Ovo-Vegetarians eat both eggs and dairy products. Pesco-Vegetarians include fish into their diets. Pollo-Vegetarians eat poultry, such as chicken, turkey, and duck. there are many different types of veggie people so yea don't mind if people bash u about eating seafood...................Show more
Idell Mulliniks: I agree with you 1st answerer.Do not go into to details, animal treatment etc. unless you want to say something like I have lots of food allergies.(in my case this is true) They will not feel you are attacking them just because you choose a different lifestyle.
Elinore Schlinker: It's better to smoke it. I have two big bags of grass clippings if you! want to make a salad or some soup.
Hope Lundmark: No. Lack of exercise will do it though.
Tomi Vauters: Actually I eat grass alot... I am fine... nothing bad has happened yet..... so it is safe to eat.
Simona Bulwinkle: There's only 1 definition for vegetarian. Vegetarians do NOT eat animal flesh.http://www.vegsoc.org/info/definitions.htmlObviously, we don't pay any attention to the flexis as they continually attempt to pass out disinformation....Show more
Azzie Trembly: vegetarians don't eat fish. If they ask if you're a vegetarian, just tell no, but you don't eat red meat and poultry.
Flor Lizardi: As others have stated, grass has little nutritional value, even for animals who can digest it (usually by harboring symbiotic bacteria in their guts), like the ruminants. We don't have such symbionts so we'd simply starve. But even supposing that you could complement a grass diet with some adequate proteins, etc, there's another (mechanical) proble! m.Grass plants contain high concentrations of silica crystals. They evo! lved those crystals as protection, to deter herbivores from eating them. Silica grinds and wears the surface of the teeth till they cannot work properly in mastication. The animals who specialized as grazing herbivores have teeth that grow continuously throughout their lives, and thus compensate for the wear caused by their diet. We don't have those kind of teeth (we'd have to design some kind of processing to de-silicate the grass leaves before eating them)....Show more
Nestor Klan: Well, if you don't want to be rude, stop referring to what other people eat as "...fast food/processed crap/food with animal by product..." I'm sure you won't appreciate it either if people refer to what you eat as "crap"If you are going to a bbq and such, talk to the host/hostess prior and explain and tell hi/her that you are vegan (or on a vegan diet as ne poster suggested), what it means and what type of foods you eat. But again leave out the "crap" reference and the usual rhetoric ab! out animal cruelty, health etc etc. Better yet, bring some, enough for everybody so you don't feel left out and your friends don't think you are setting yourself apart. If they ask you, then you can explain why you are vegan. If not then don't AS for fast food eating, that's easier. Tell them you are watching what you eat. Besides, actual eating is secondary in most events anyway. If people seem to be dwelling to much on what you eat (or don't eat), try to steer the conversation to something else. But remember, it doesn't mean yo have to just endure insults or rude remarks yourself. If it comes to that, defend what you believe in and "let them have it" so to speak. One good strategy also is to tell someone you know will understand and not judge. Then you already have someone on your "side" of things get a little "sticky"....Show more
Jude Kennelly: if you belive you are a vegetairn but you eat fish then just tell people you are. i tell people im a vegetairn but i do ea! t turkey and chicken and people are like your not a vegetarian. but i s! till belive i amd. im my opionion i think you are.but here is a websit that tells you the different types of vegitairns because there are different names depending on what meats you may eat.http://www.pamf.org/teen/health/nutrition/veggiete...hope this helps....Show more
Marti Declue: Well, you're not vegetarian, because you eat flesh (fish).Vegetarians don't consume ANY animal... fish, cow, pigs, everything...Just tell em the truth lol you're a meat eater.
Davida Gisriel: i think fish would count as meat because it was once alive and moving.but, also i have heard of other vegitarians that consider themselves to be so. but they eat fish.
Tomeka Hameen: People eat wheat and alfalfa sprouts, both forms of grass. Humans are unable to digest the complex sugars found in imature grass (the green stuff you mow). We all eat the seed from mature grass: rice, wheat, rye and oat flour.
Peter Lapoint: "No thank you, I'm a vegan" in a polite tone.
Anibal Sc! heid: I highly doubt that grass will fulfill the dietary requirements of a human being. Grass is a plant, and therefore has cellulose cell walls surrounding its cells. These walls can not be digested by humans, this is why we pass stool after eating foods high in fiber, ie plants. If our economy resorts to a grass diet, the most obvious result, will be the death of many, due to starvation....Show more
Peter Lapoint: I don't think it counts as a vegetarian. In my opinion, a vegetarian is someone who doesn't eat anything that breathed at one point.
Rufus Plough: "Sorry, I'm A Vegan (then state your reason example : I think eating animals is wrong, I don't find Meat appetizing, I think eating meat is unhealthy, ETC.)"The same way you said it when you where a Vegetarian except say replace the word Vegetarian to Vegan.Hope it helped
Alphonso Brake: you are a pescatarian
Filiberto Ranalli: helloi am a vegetarian and i eat fish and some dairy but NO RED ME! AT OR POULTRY OR PORK...THE PROPER TERM...IS PESCA-VEGETARIAN OR LACTO/! OVO VEGETARIANSvegans are far more strickthey eat absolutely no animal products...fish, eggs, dairy see link below....to see how they differyes u and i are vegetarians! be proudof ur compassionate lifestyle...Show more
Esmeralda Pigram: Wow, that's just like me!! I can totally relate. I tried becoming veg last year but it didn't work out. Now I tried it again and I've been vegetarian for three months! Okay, so it was tough with my mom, too. What you need to do is print a list of things with protein--though your mother may not have said it exactly, that's what she's concerned about--getting all of the diet areas fulfilled healthily. Do a little research and find out what a good vegetarian needs. After you've found this out, approach your mother with a calm, smart attitude. Be sure to assure your mom that you're only becoming vegetarian for the animals' sake--not because you're becoming hippie and smoking pot and having 7-foot hair! LOL. She needs to know the reason beh! ind it, and the fact that you're not going to change who you really are just because your diet is altering for the animals! If your mother is still worried and upset, tell her to start buying free range meat--this is meat that allows the animals to have happier lives, and is much healthier. Good luck! If I can do it, you can do it. Kate
Alexandria Popik: Rice, wheat and bamboo are all types of grasses that humans eat so yes, it is safe to eat grass.
Darnell Cutliff: Google "Flexitarian" and "Flexitarian diets" and you will find your answer. You are a flexitarian vegetarian. "Strict" vegetarians are dying out and rely on some old groups that try to tell the world what a vegetarian is. But that has changed foreverr. The Japanese for instance have been flexitarians for centuries and their diet like yours is mostly plant-based with fish/seafood. So is mine and sometimes I toss in some poultry and on RARE occasions a small peice of red meat. You are what millions ! of vegetarians are .... a flexitarian vegetarian. Watch all the "stri! ct" vegetarians try to tell you otherwise. They are denying the reality....Show more
Donnell Mollo: I'm on a vegan diet (not in a rude tone).
Rubi Romo: There is a great forum for new vegans. I highly recommend it.It will help with come-backs (that unfortunately you will have to resort to with certain ignorant people). As for just simply letting people know, they should understand and be open-minded. It's becoming a more common lifestyle by the day :)
Madlyn Fallis: I have excuses for all food types since sometimes I just don't feel like explaining my diet to people. If they offer meat I say it causes me to have an upset stomach (which it does) or it gives me heartburn (which it does). If they offer dairy I say I'm lactose intolerant (which I am, lol). If it is eggs I say the same as I would for meat since eggs does give me a really bad stomach ache.Thankfully other non-vegan things besides those are rare occurences. The only thing left is desserts at bi! rthday parties or whatever. You could say you're on a diet. It's not impolite to simply state you diet though so don't worry. I don't like confrontation so I just avoid the conversation all together. I live in the south and it isn't exactly popular to be vegan here.
Jackson Esmiol: When someone offers you nonvegan food, you say "Oh, no thank you, I'm vegan." If they knew you were vegetarian, chances are they wouldn't be offering you meat, but if they didn't you're going to have to explain that you're vegan and what you can and cannot eat. Don't tell them why unless they ask, and then just give the most basic, general answer without going into the horrors of factory farming. You can say you're vegan for ethical reasons and leave it at that.
Joesph Smithmyer: Humans cannot digest grass. If you were to eat grass it wouldn't hurt you but you would not get any nutrition from it. So no, it cannot substitute for food.
Spencer Heidtbrink: Ask someone before you! eat grass
