Makeup: Is this too much makeup?

Gregory Dilg: well, personally , I didn't start wearing makeup until I was almost 13 but that's me.... and now that you want to start her off, let her wear light natural colors. start her off with some eyeshadow and lipgloss and maybe some brown eyeliner. not black or she'll look like she's trying to hard. I really liked clinique's eyeshadow in "foxy" it has some color and it's sparkly.but that's only if she's ...latina colored. if she's fair, she would probably like mary kay's eye shadow in "cristalline" both are stuble enough for girls who are barely starting to wear makeup. you should definitely teach her how to wear them or you guys can go to the mall where you can talk o makeup consultants that can teach you both to apply it. I consider it a great bonding experience for you and your daughter. A definite no-no would be foundation or powder for her face, you don't want her to break out. then she'd NEED to use it and that's the last thing you want. good luck....Show mor! e

Anibal Katayama: If she doesn't wear make up now she should just start off wearing powder, concealer, eye shadow and some lip gloss. I thin she's too young to wear eyeliner/mascara and it's make her look trashy. And I doubt she has bad enough skin to need a liquid foundation.Definitely teach her how to apply it, remind her it's about enhancing her beauty not making her look like someone else. Maybe in year or so show her how to PROPERLY apply eyeliner and mascara, I see some many young girls with tarantula eyes and they look like they have black eyes with all the eyeliner they have on. I think she should slowly break in to wearing make up so she doesn't just show up one day at school looking like a train wreak....Show more

Mildred Pombo: That does seem like a lot of makeup. At your age if you wanted to wear makeup I think the perfect amount would be a light foundation, a little mascara or eyeliner and a nude lip gloss.

Coleman Deliberato: for her age, le! t her wear a little lipgloss, blush and mascara would be nice.! i think eyeliner and eyeshadow are a bit of a 8th grade stage. and also, dont let her use foundation yet. or get something that wont aggravate acne because she's at the point of puberty. please do teach her how to do it and then have her practice a bit more. she'll get the hang of it and you guys can have some bonding time. also, teach her that if she wants a clearer face when she grows up, wash her makeup off at night!...Show more

Coleman Ocegueda: I really like Maybelle's colossal mascara. But since your eyelashes are a bit longer I would just use any mascara you can find but use an eyelash curler before and after you apply your mascara.

Melissa Lavallie: That IS a lot of makeup. Here's what i use for my everyday routine (what i wear to school) and it's in order of when i out it on:*moisturizer with SPF (and i put some on my eyelids too and use that as the base for my eyeshadow)*concealer (probably what you mentioned as "cover up stuff)*translucent powder to ! set everything and reduce the oil on my face*eyeshadow (i use pink since my eyes are hazel-y green, but you should stick with gray)*brown liner on my waterline (the inside rim of your eyelid. try maybe a plum-y shade. it'll work with your eye color*i curl my lashes (optional)*ONE coat of mascara (and no primer either. It's usless)*light pink gloss or red nivea kiss of moisture lip balm. It all ends up looking very pretty and not heavy. Good luck!...Show more

Jesusita Dykhoff: one million- once you're finding for a greater organic seem, it is the style you do it. i'm in simple terms now beginning as much as positioned on makeup and that i do no longer choose for to look like a hooker and that i additionally am a splash embarrassed with relatives. Sibyl Siwik: antonymssplurge is to spend a lotsteal is to get a good deal and spend less

Seema Hosfeld: I'm trying to find a good mascara but idk what splurge and ste! el is.

Hope Lundmark: Maybelline's classic mascara (pink tube, gr! een lid) is the best for me for just an everyday look. I also have very long lashes; mascara alone doesn't really help with curl; you should totally invest in an eyelash curler. Pretty much any curler works, just don't get one made out of rusty metal & you'll be fine!Blow-dry the curler before using it to make the curl more lasting... Curl your lashes and THEN put on mascara. For added curl, you can curl your lashes after you apply the mascara (make sure you do it well after the mascara has dried), but do NOT apply any more mascara after this second curl; your lashes will get screwed up.I hope I helped! Good luck! (:...Show more

Sena Highman: It can be hard to wonder "Too much or too little?"; I know how you feel. It's difficult to judge how much makeup it really was because it won't necessarily look like a lot or a little once applied. You don't really need primer, and coverup is only for under your eyes if you have dark circles, and for covering blemishes; not ever! yday use. The eyeshadow underneath your eyes sounds a little dramatic, and the entire look might be more subtle if the shadow was just applied on your eyelids. Lip stain is not really necessary if you have a colored gloss, so I'd suggest skipping out on that. But gloss is fine.Your mom probably had a good reason to freak out if she has never seen you in makeup before, but if you want to wear it on a regular basis, check with her, and try to keep it natural (esp. at school and in the daytime).Try natural foundation, lip gloss, maybe mascara, and some eyeshadow for nights out!Good luck!...Show more

Lou Ravelo: Its hard to say - it deppends how you wear these products.I can sometimes wear as much makeup as you have just described and still look moderatley 'natural'.What I would say in your case though, is only wear what you NEED.For example if your skin doesnt need foundation/powder then dont wear it.I'd say it sounds like probably a bit much for everyday. A little ey! eliner or eyeshadow with mascara is all you really need for the daytime! (if anything)But then experiment with sparkly eyeshadows etc for nighttime :)Goodluck, and just wear whatever amount of makeup you feel comfortable in ;) x...Show more

Vickie Sterbenz: I have long lashes that don't curl naturally. I curl my lashes before applying mascara. Some of my very favorite mascaras are:Loreal Voluminous Carbon BlackRimmel Glam EyesRimmel Max Volume FlashMax Factor 2000 calorie lashMax Factor Stretch and SeperateMaybelline Great Lash BIG (the regular clumps too much on long lashes)Maybelline Define-a-lash regular (green tube) (the pink is for volume and doesn't work as well)Covergirl Lash Blast Volume (Orange)Covergirl Lash Blast Fusion (Purple)Maybelline falsies clumps too muchI've tried highend mascara. They are not worth it. They have never lived up to the hype and they cost more. Why spend $20+ on something you are going to toss in 3 months? I have always stuck with drugstore mascara. There are some really good ones. Of course these! are my opinions, what works for me might not work for you and the other way around. Mascara is something you're definitely going to have to look for and try yourself because they seem to work different for everyone....Show more

David Boehler: if you want your eyelashes to curl more, either use an eyelash curler after applying mascara(try cover girl lashblast for a fuller look), or try a double ended mascara (try L'oreal Volume Shocking).

Sammy Tabatt: Benefit Bad Gal is quite pricey but it really gets the job done, volume, length, curl.Number 17 VaVaVoom is cheaper and very good for volume, but don't use the No.7. Extravagant Lashes - it's useless, and only flattens and clumps. Do you use just Maybelline because Maybelline Collossal Volume/Big Fatty are meant to be excellent. Rimmel is my favourite cheaper mascara and there are many different types to suit you, curling, lengthening, volumise, nourish or some 3 in 1's with Rimmel too. Hope this helps! :)...Show! more

Emerita Sciandra: I really like the L'oreal Clean Definitio! n mascara (The one in the silver tube is the one I use). I'm not sure how much it is but I got mine at CVS for under $10. It thickens my lashes and makes them longer and prettier. But I always curl my lashes before I apply mascara. Mine are kind of ugly actually, unless I curl them first. Good luck! =)

Roosevelt Pendill: My mom did the same thing. If you keep telling her thats what she should normally wear, then she will get used to it. And not want to buy those expensive kind. My mom told me, a lil pink blush, eyeshadow, lipgloss, and very little mascara. I have been doing that since I was 10. And I'm 14 now and still use the same thing. I learned to love my makeup and I'm thankful I am allowed to wear make up. Tell her that if she wears make up just at home, it will damage her skin and she will break out. Suger breaks out too. :)...Show more

Jose Calaycay: When it comes to makeup, the individual items you are using does not determine whether it is too much or ! not. What determines what is too much is APPLICATION. I've seen girls that only wear mascara and powder, but they will apply about 6 coats of mascara (or, like an old friend, 6 layers of 6 different mascaras) and 3 layers of powder. So, while it may not be as much in terms of individual items, it easily looks like a lot of makeup. In my opinion, it is a little excessive. Some of these things could easily be removed or at least applied very sparingly. Some things that you could remove would be the eyelash primer and one of your facial products. I'm guessing the "moisturizer" was either a tinted moisturizer or a foundation. Instead of using all three (powder, foundation, concealer), you could choose to use only one, or apply some concealer and then dust your face with powder to set. The eye makeup and lip products doesn't sound like a lot, but again, it's all about application....Show more

Jude Colbenson: To "splurge" means to spend a lot of money on something expensive.! A "steal" is something that is less expensive, but still a good value.! When magazines have articles about "splurges" and "steals," all they mean is that one product is more expensive and one is less expensive.

Len Dalba: I started to wear makeup in 6th grade too. My mom was very open and helpful about it. I only wore lipstick/gloss, mascara, and blush on occasion. I think it is important to let your kids express them self's it helps them learn who they are. I had friends even in high school whose parents would not let them wear makeup, they used to hide it from their parents by applying it on the bus then removing it on the way home so they would find out. That is a very unhealthy relationship and it is only the beginning of many more lies and mistrust. Its so important to keep an open relationship with her now so she will always be comfortable coming to you about anything. You sound like a great supportive mom and your daughter is lucky to have you. Good Luck!!!...Show more

Kara Tabian: If you want them to curl then I suggest using! a eyelash curler along with Rimmel Sexy curves mascara :)

Damaris Weiler: The popular girl applied the makeup to my face. I have never worn makeup before then, and don't even know what half the products are/were....=)

Lawanna Livsey: Id let her mess around with lipgloss and some of your old lipsticks and eye shadows. Tell her that she can practice all of the above but not wear them out. To school and stuff I would let her wear eyeshadow(lightly) on special occasions. And blush and lipgloss regularly. And definitely show her how to put it on or else shell look like a clown. lol no offense. Shes just starting jr. high i would let her wear eyeshadow and mascara daily next year and then a full face in 8th grade or at least highschool....Show more

Abel Adger: First of all if you think you look good just the way you are forget what other people think. If you want to wear some make-up to enchance your beauty, the only thing you should wear is marcara, eye shadow! and lip gloss. Always do a good skin care face wash, toner, and moistu! rizer.Don't put all that stuff on your face again, you really don't want to see that girls face without face then you will never wear it. You are young, and do what works best for you. Play around with what makes you comfortable. Any girl your age only needs a 5 min. make-up steps. just the basics. I am 27 years old and don't wear all that make-up....Show more

Lionel Tanen: most people agree that foundation is pretty bad but if she has problem skin, go out to walmart or something and get a foundation labeled "noncomedgenic" so it wont ruin her face. i wouldnt use blush if i was 11....no lipstick it really dries up your lips....lipgloss with a lipbalm already in it like Neutrogena HydroClear or something...mascara....definately not eyeliner, that will really ruin the effects of a "natural" look and most likely won't emphasize her eyes. and i would skip eyeshadow and bronzer. at the most, she should wear foundation, lipgloss, mascara, and maybe blush on regular occasion! s. hope this helps!:]]...Show more

Brock Anwar: Try layering on mascara. First, I apply the wet n wild mega volume curling mascara, which is $3.99 at Wal-mart, and then I apply Cover girl lash Blast mascara which is around 8$ I think. Good luck and I hope I helped!

Lita Thammorongsa: I have an 11 year old daughter who is in 6th grade. What makeup should I let her wear? As in- blush, lipstick/lipgloss, eyeliner, mascara, eyeshadow etc. I can tell she wants to wear most, and should I also teach her how to apply the ones she is allowed to wear? Thank you so much!

Andra Oger: Splurge means expensive, steal means cheap.

Voncile Slaubaugh: You should use an eyelash curler. Try the elf one. Its only a $1 but it is amazing! Rimmel Sexy curves mascara is good at holding a curl.

Alberto Kozub: I really like two mascaras. Both are from maybelline. The ones I like are colossal and lash stiletto :)

Christy Tirabassi: Splurge Or Steal

Emerita Sci! andra: My fav routine for young gals...first cream blush (I love tarte)! , then a tinted moisturizer (lorac is my fav)---i would only stay with a tinted moisturizer, it gives your daughter the feeling she is waering makeup but will look very natural and give her the added benefit of spf as well! Then from there do some mascara (i choose waterprof cuz who knows when she might tear up, sweat or get caught in the rain) maybe a neutral eyeshadow (love love love chopper by urban decay). A nice shiny or sparkly lipgloss will make her feel put together and if she wants more pigment try a lip stain underneath it (I love vincent longo and tarte stains). She can do eyelner but it is easy to overdo it and it can be annoying to learn how to accomplish the look you both agree on...so it might be best to throw that in a little later. Also explain that is she wears it all now....there won't be anything left to exeperience later...why do we all want to grow up when we are young? hope that helps...mostly its up to you how much she wears and what she looks like..! .good luck...Show more

Miguel Koczela: If I were you I would put on minimal make-up, because you yourself said you look better without it. Maybe cover up for your face, Eye Liner and Mascara for your eyes, Blush for your cheeks, and a little sparkly lip gloss for your lips.

Mack Ukich: I'm in the 7th grade and this is what everyone wears:Lipglossa TAD bit of blush ONLY if she needs iteyeliner (not too much...help her with it)Mascara EyelinerI, of course, got out of 6th so this what ppl wear. Girls our age don't really wear lipstick. Definatly teach her and take her to a makeup counter. This is what my mom did. A lot of eyeliner is needed. I hope thats alot of help!...Show more

Shon Almquist: If she has acne, let her wear concealor that won't clog her pores. Eyeshadow is okay. Maybe one coat of mascara on the top lashes. Neutral lipsticks and lip glosses that don't stray too far from her natural lip tone (if she has pale lips, don't let her wear a lipstick ! called ruby red or something for example). Let the lipstick bring out h! er natural lip color. Eyeliner is a bit too much. Blush is probably too much as well.

Freddy Shutler: It definitely is too much makeup. She should drop all that eyeshadow, and if anything, just do a brown so it's cute, but natural. Put some clear ligloss, and a little blush. And if you want, mascara and eyeliner and that's it. I know how it feels to be going to a party where everyone is there, and you don't want to look like the oddball, but guys honestly like girls better without makeup than with. Surprising, I know, but they like the natural look. So that popular girl can wear pounds of make up if she wants, but you putting little to nothing, will get the guys-trust me:)...Show more
