Serena Doak: right now its not and it is forcing up our food prices, if obama and the other really cared about Americans in general they would not force this crap on us
Wilbert Shellgren: I like Obama's idea of diversifying our energy source. Ethanol is a good way to phase out oil, but it isn't a long term solution. However, is isn't as short sighted as the "drill now' mentality. Actually, with proper planning, I think ethanol is the only reasonable solutions. Say we invent a hydrogen fuel cell car, well millions of people still have a car that runs on gasoline, and can run off ethanol. SO this would allow more of a phase out strategy as opposed to a black and white, one day oil, the next fuel cell, solution. As for the drilling solution. We wont see any of that potential oil for another 10 years or so, because facilities need to be built. SO prices wont go down for along time. It is short sighted and we will face the same problem down to road. I say we need to stop! relying on politicians to solve the problem for us, and we as consumers need to purchase bio-fuel, fuel efficient vehicles, properly maintain your vehicle. No executive official can just switch out fuel source, this is a capitalist society, we choose what we buy, and we are buying oil. We are a nation of almost limetless resources, yet we choose oil as our SINGLE fuel source, the one substance we no longer have in vast ammounts....Show more
Robt Heemstra: No it is not worthwhile. Not only do we have high gas prices,we now have high food prices as well... Drilling NOW,along with the other forms of Energy McCain talked about is our way to Energy independence.
Clementina Collelo: You never get what a bill is really about without reading the entire bill.Don't ever forget that. Bills hide things and the summaries are often very misleadingAnyway we must drill here and now, and we must also get alternatives. Of course we should reap some of our oil reserves before it ! is no longer a commodity of value. We are already broke rememb! er??? If in 10 years we have an alternative that would be wonderful. And if we don't Obama did what? Make us poorer? Give us Gas lines or no gas at all? We do not have an alternative now and NO politician we know of can guarantee one they are not scientists.All they can do is make creating alternative energy economically inviting which they should but that has NOTHING to do with drilling. Unless your speaking of what the oil we have will be worth once no one needs it. Than we will drill just to get it out of the earth because we will discover some other toxin develops from leaving it there. All you environmentalists are NUTS.What are we going to eat may I ask if we use our food sources for ethanol? If we use corn for ethanol the cost is higher than gas, if we used hemp the cost would be far cheaper but we can't grow hemp either remember?...Show more
